2015 Kansas State Fair 4-H Results
Thank you to all the volunteers that help at the Kansas State Fair, 4H weekend.
Tom Little works with KSU Extension all year to plan the 4H rabbit show. He and the 4H committee count on the volunteers to come in on the days prior to the show that help check in rabbits and complete the paper work for the show on Saturday. Nancy Kennedy, as our show secretary, assembles the entries prior to fair week and arrives early to help put everything together. Diana Guantt works before the fair to set up a schedule of youth volunteers that feed and water rabbits as well as sweep and keep the barn clean for visitors. She makes sure the volunteers actually do their job and sets up a practice Identification Contest for youth to complete on Sunday. These adults and others spend their time and money to help make this weekend a great experience for 4H rabbit project members.
Thanks to all the volunteers that carry rabbits, take comments, write placings, act as ramrods, hand out stickers, judge fur, and stuff envelopes. There is no way up to 1000 rabbits can be judged without all of the help provided by our 4H rabbit families. Several families donate classes of rabbits for the judging contest, time each round, score the judging cards, and help organize the showmanship contest. No “Thank you” for the state fair is complete without remembering all that retired Extension Agents, Conall and Barbara Addison have done for 4H in general and the rabbit project specifically.
This year Clarence Linsey celebrates the 35th year of showmanship at the Kansas State Fair. Clarence and his family started this competition and have guided it to the spectacular event that is has become. Congratulations and
